Animal Control

The Garrard County Animal Control serves the county and city of Lancaster to protect public health and safety, ensure the humane treatment of animals and provide quality, professional service to the public. The department is the local authority in animal welfare and strives to create and preserve a safe and humane community for both people and animals. The shelter welcomes visitors to come and find pets that need rescuing to a new home.

These hours are for general animal control issues and administrative matters. All calls regarding animal control should be made to this number. Urgent, after-hours calls may be directed to the Bluegrass 911 Dispatch Center at (859) 792-2244.
